On the 27th of September 2016, The Ciara Chronicles turned one. One! That means that I stuck at something for one whole year without giving up on it. If my younger self saw what I’ve just written there, she would be appalled because she was such a driven person who was determined to succeed at anything she’d try. But my present self, a person who’s battled with her mental health for a number of years, is so proud to have finally kept something up for longer than a couple of weeks. A blogging milestone has been reached!
I decided that I really need to become more frequent with my blogging but am struggling to come up with things to blog out. That’s not really good for a blogger, is it? Anyway, after a browse around and a think, I decided to do a “tag” post every week, allowing you to find out a little bit more about me and things I like etc. I’ve seen Aoife from Pretty Purple Polka Dots do a couple recently and enjoyed reading her answers, so maybe you’ll enjoy reading mine. Who knows?
If you’ve read my previous post reviewing the Bondi Sands Tan and Glove Your Body Mitts, you’ll know that I’m quite fond of Mulligans Pharmacy, especially the one on the Dunmore Road here in Waterford (seriously – go there! It’s fab!). I think they’re pretty aware of how much I love their pharmacy as the lovely Daryl, a staff member of Mulligans Pharmacy, got in contact with me and was kind enough to send out the Cailyn Super HD Pro Coverage Foundation in shade 03 Rosso to see what I thought of it. Let’s see how I got on…
Work has been extremely quiet the last couple of days and with beginning my new healthy eating and fitness regime, I’ve been trying to distract myself from the thoughts of eating unhealthy foods. This has proven to be quite tough when it’s been so quiet in there so, I asked my good friend Ciara could I borrow a book from her to keep myself occupied during the day. She recommended that I read a book called I Am That Girl, a book I’ve heard her talk about a lot of the past couple of months so it was worth a shot!
Dear Ciara (aged 16)
I know that it has been a while since we last spoke, but I just wanted to check in with you. This is a letter from 23 year old you. I just wanted to write to you to tell you how you’ve been, what you’ve done and how life has treated you over the last seven years. You may be shocked at some of it, but all that matters is that we got this far and we are still going strong, no matter how many bad days we may have.
Before I began working in my current job, I was working The Estuary Spa in Faithlegg House Hotel, Waterford. I was so fortunate to become employed in that job as I had just completed my Beauty Therapy course, and didn’t think I would find a job in what I had trained in so quickly. Although I’m left over a year now, I still think back to how much I loved that job, the people I worked with and the experience I gained. If my body could cope with the amount of physical work I was doing daily, I’m sure I would still be there and loving it.
So, as the title suggests, I’m on the pursuit of happiness. I don’t know how long the journey will take but as my favourite quote states, “the road to success is always under construction”. In my previous post, “Panic + Fear = Attack”, I explained about the panic and fear of becoming truly happy because once you get happy, your sadness can return in the blink of an eye.
