If you’ve been following my Facebook page or my Snapchat, you may have seen that I attended the Deise Bloggers “Mad Hatter Tea Party” in aid of Pieta House on Sunday, August 7th in the Kazbar, Waterford. The event was the second blogger event that I have attended and it was absolutely amazing! It was great to see all of the bloggers from Waterford, learn a number of skincare, make-up and hair tips and of course, have a tea party! Unfortunately, I completely forgot to save my pictures from my Snapchat story but luckily, Blathnaid from Wildflower Diaries was on hand with her camera and took gorgeous photographs of the day. Keep reading to find out what went on during the event…
Firstly, the event was organised by three lovely ladies: Rachael from Rachsbeautique, Jodi from Jodi Roche Make-Up, and Lisa from Cuddles & Contouring. This was the second Deise Bloggers event that they had organised and it was clear to see how much time and effort they put into organising the “Mad Hatter Tea Party”. From the decoration of the Kazbar, the demonstrations, the sponsors and the goody bags – everything was done with perfection. A huge well done to these wonderful ladies for putting together such a fantastic event!
The first person up to have a chat with us was Celia, the founder of Nia. Celia told us all about the skincare range she created after years of working as a beauty therapist, but how she found it hard to recommend products to her clients that were filled with unhealthy chemical ingredients. Nia products are made using natural healthy butters and oils, along with vitamin rich super-foods. As I have trained with Eminence Organic Skincare, I’m a huge lover of natural skincare products so I can’t wait to try out the Nia range. Celia kindly provided the Nia Eye Serum in the event’s goody bags and I seriously cannot wait to give it a go!
Next up for a make-up demonstration, was Danielle from Danielle MakeUp. Danielle is a local freelance make-up artist who also works in Urban Decay. She demonstrated applying foundation using the airbrush technique, then created a gorgeous natural daytime make-up look on her model. It was a gorgeous look and I really enjoyed Danielle’s demonstration!
The absolutely gorgeous (seriously, she’s stunning!) Sammy Stacey who works in Beautorium Beauty Salon was up next, demonstrating the Tomitago Skincare range. Tomitago aims to produce 100% chemical-free skincare products that are as effective as their chemical counterparts. All products are unisex and have been formulated to be effective and gentle on all skin types. The creator of Tomitago was up there as Sammy was demoing the range, answering any questions that us bloggers asked. She was also kind enough to provide a Beauty Elixir for the goody bags, a product which eliminates the need for a separate eye serum, face serum, eye cream, day cream, night cream and primer. One product which does it all! Me being the lazy person that I am when it comes to these kind of things, it is perfect for me and I love it! I’ve been using it every day since the event.
You all know by now how much I love Mulligan’s Pharmacy and how often I do my beauty bits shopping in there. Shirley and Daryl, staff from Mulligan’s Pharmacy took to the stage explaining about the new Blogger Ambassador Card that they were providing to each of us bloggers at the event. This was such a wonderful touch from Mulligan’s Pharmacy! We were each given our card, a card which had our name, our blog name and our picture on it. A huge, huge thank you to these guys! They have always been so supportive of the Deise Bloggers.
Niamh from NCmakeup was up next and demonstrated a night-time make-up look on her stunning model. I had been following Niamh for years on Instagram, and recently started following her on Snapchat. The make-up looks that she creates are absolutely stunning, so daring and colourful. I seriously wish I could apply my make-up as well as she does. Niamh was full of knowledge and confidence about different products and techniques. She’s a self-taught make-up artist and she’s definitely one to watch!
The final two to take the stage were Lyndsey Kelly, one of the most creative hairstylists I’ve ever seen, and one of Waterford’s most famous make-up artists, Diane Everett. These girls were definitely the highlight of the event for me! Lyndsey created a stunningly creative “faux bob” on Diane’s colourful locks – a look Diane could definitely pull off. The two of them had us laughing hysterically and it’s clear to see that they’ve got such a strong friendship.
After the hair demonstration, Diane did a Q&A where we ended up learning all about her beauty background in Ireland and Australia, hearing about her most requested beauty treatment and how make-up became her love. She’s definitely one of the most creative make-up artists around at the moment, and I honestly don’t know how much time I’ve spent watching her Snapchat videos. It’s like something I have to watch every morning!
As I said at the beginning of the post, this event was in aid of Pieta House. Pieta House is a centre in Ireland for the prevention of self-harm and suicide which first opened in Dublin back in 2003. One of their most well-known fundraisers is Darkness into Light, which has been taking place every May for the past couple of years. Fortunately, Waterford are now getting their own Pieta House which will be opening soon enough so all the money raised at the “Mad Hatter Tea Party” will be donated to this branch.
Each of us donated money and bought raffle tickets at the event, and the Deise Bloggers ended up raising €450 which is absolutely phenomenal! Unfortunately, I had to head off before the event ended due to other commitments, but the girls had organised a balloon release at the end of the event. After seeing everyone’s pictures, it looked absolutely beautiful and amazing way to end such a great afternoon!
I think it’s obvious that the “Mad Hatter Tea Party” was a huge success and a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon! Another huge well done to Rachael, Jodi and Lisa for organising such an amazing event! Also, can we just take a look at the picture below to see how many brands and companies were kind enough to sponsor this event? It’s safe to say that I’ve had a number of pampering sessions this week!
Thanks for reading and until next time…
